Your Transportation to and from the island...

The ferry ride trip to Peaks Island is always a beautiful and scenic one. On the glistening water you will see Bug Lighthouse, which has been extinguished since WW II, and Spring Point Lighthouse that was built in the 1890's. Fort Georges sits in the middle of the harbor. Built in 1858, the fort was the 3rd point of defense for Portland and the harbor. It was never used, but is a magnificent structure to check out by kayak. You will pass House Island, which is the home of Fort Scammel. The original structure was built in 1808 and the current fort was built 1860. This is island was once used as a receiving station for immigrants. After this scenic trip, you will arrive in the Forest City area of Peaks Island where you will find shops, cafes, a greenhouse and a beautiful inn. Our oceanside buildings are only a short walk from the dock.
